Oklahoma doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves. Maybe I’m biased because I’ve grown up here, but I think it’s a beautiful, diverse state, and a wonderful place to plan a wedding. As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to shoot at some of the most gorgeous venues this state has to offer, and I have not been disappointed.
Your wedding venue is one of the biggest decisions in planning your day, and deciding on the right place can be overwhelming. It’s not just about what’s popular or cheap; it’s about finding that one location that perfectly defines who you are as a couple and sets the mood for your wedding day.
If you’re venue-shopping and need some ideas or recommendations, I’ve compiled this list of my favorite wedding venues in Oklahoma, at least of the ones I’ve discovered so far (I’m sure this list will grow and develop over time!). Take a look, see which one jumps out at you, and start planning your perfect wedding day.
If you’re looking for a whimsical venue with all the fairytale vibes, the Stone Barn at Blueberry Hill in Oklahoma City is the place for you. With a setting that can only be described as magical, it features thickly wooded property, lights strung through the trees, an enchanting stone barn, a gorgeous bridal suite reminiscent of a tree house, a covered pavilion, and an open area so you can dance the night away under the stars. I seriously can’t get enough of this venue.
BARN AT THE WOODS
The moment I stepped foot on this property for the first time, I was in love. Located near Edmond, Oklahoma, Barn at the Woods features wide open fields, a cozy forest, a farmhouse for a bridal suite, and that stunning barn decked out with twinkle lights. What’s not to love? I love the timeless, intimate feel of this venue, like you’re having a big dinner party with your closest friends. It’s my top choice for spring or fall weddings, with the cool evenings and rich colors of the seasons.
MAGNOLIA ROOM
A loft in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City, the Magnolia Room has all the urban, industrial vibes. It features exposed brick, huge windows with abundant natural light, a chandelier over the dance floor, city streets below for modern portraits, and an amazing view of the city. Elegant and unique, the Magnolia Room is such a stunning and versatile space, and looks especially gorgeous when candlelit.
ED LYCAN CONSERVATORY AT WILL ROGERS GARDENS
After photographing three weddings at the Ed Lycan Conservatory, I can easily put it on this list. It finds its home amidst the gorgeous Will Rogers Gardens in Oklahoma City, instantly giving you the ideal outdoor setting for portraits. Perfect for smaller weddings and easy on the budget, this venue is the epitome of simple elegance. Since the glass walls of the conservatory offer beautifully diffused lighting at nearly any time of day, I would love to see a couple plan a brunch ceremony here (hint, hint).
SOUTHWIND HILLS
If you want options, Southwind Hills has it all: a gorgeous barn, a timeless chapel, or an outdoor ceremony nestled in the trees? Take your pick. Located just outside Norman, Oklahoma, this is an all-inclusive venue, providing caterers, wedding planners, florists, and more. It’s one of the most intentional, well thought-out venues I’ve ever worked at. Landscaped to perfection, beautifully decorated, and located in the ideal Oklahoma countryside, the team at Southwind is truly dedicated to making your wedding day flawless.
SPARROW
Love the idea of getting married in a barn, but your style is a little more modern than burlap? Look no further than Sparrow in Stillwater, Oklahoma. With white, gray, and black accents, it’s modern, chic, and elegant while maintaining the rustic setting, with both indoor and outdoor ceremony options. Think Joanna Gaines without the shiplap (though I know that’s difficult). One of the few venues I’ve seen where the groomsmen get just as elaborate and spacious a room as the girls, Sparrow is a well-planned, expertly-run venue, making all your classic wedding dreams come true.
WICHITA MOUNTAINS WILDLIFE REFUGE
Okay. So this one isn’t technically a wedding venue, but STILL. Tucked away in southwestern Oklahoma are the gorgeous Wichita Mountains. This place holds a special place in my heart because growing up, I spent countless weekends there hiking and exploring its trails. What could be better than to vow your love to each other with mountains as your backdrop? If you’re wanting to keep things simple and personal, the Wichita Mountains are perfect for elopements and intimate weddings. And bonus: I know it really well so location ideas are never lacking.
