Modern + Urban Okc Engagement Session | Kendi + Denzel | Oklahoma City Wedding Photographer

My number one piece of advice when planning your wedding or engagement session is this: DO WHAT YOU WANT. It’s your day, your session, and it should reflect exactly who you are. I get it, it’s hard to let go of tradition, but I’ve never had a client yet who regretted going against the norm. There’s so much freedom in being different and trying something new, and that’s exactly what Kendi + Denzel wanted for their engagement photos. 

Usually my clients come to me a bit uncertain about their engagement session, asking for advice and help with planning. But Kendi + Denzel knew exactly what they wanted. We sat down over coffee and they told me all about their ideas. They were looking for something different. They were over what was traditional. They wanted modern, funky, bold, and unique.  

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

This was such a delightful creative experience. I went location scouting one day, on the hunt for cool textures, clean lines, and bold colors. After sending Kendi + Denzel a bunch of photos of various locations, they picked what they liked and everything was a go. We wandered around downtown Oklahoma City, snapping photos and dancing to Drake. It was so wonderful to have clients who entrusted me with their distinct vision and who were down for all of my crazy and nonsensical ideas to bring that vision to life.

I love these two people. They are so fun and kind and genuine, and if you couldn’t tell, 10/10 obsessed with each other. It’s gonna be so hard to wait until next June for their wedding, but I couldn’t be more excited to party with them. And if their engagement session is any indication, their wedding day is going to be all kinds of rad. LET’S DO THIS THING.
