When planning a big wedding seemed too much and too overwhelming, Alex + Tristan decided to keep things simple and have an intimate backyard wedding with just their closest family and friends. Alex’s parents’ house backs up to some wildflower fields, which were the perfect colorful backdrop for their wedding day.
Alex + Tristan are high school sweethearts who had gone to school together since the 4th grade. In high school, Alex finally really noticed Tristan and crushed on him from afar. After a year of hoping for him to like her back, he finally asked her out and they have been inseparable ever since. In her first email to me, Alex described them both as “old souls” who love hanging out with their golden retriever Pearl and going to the movies with their families. When they got engaged after 7 years of being together, she said it almost felt like a step backward because they had felt married for so long.
When the wedding planning began, they knew they didn’t want anything big or elaborate. They just wanted to enjoy their day, celebrate their relationship, be relaxed and comfortable with the people they love most, and eat good food. Alex went barefoot the whole day, their beloved pups joined them for photos, there was a tower of donuts, and they snuggled up in the wildflowers at sunset.
I remember Alex telling me that she and Tristan just feel at home together. And it shows. It’s an honor to document such beautiful, comfortable love.
All I have to say is get yourself the kind of clients who change into sweatpants during their wedding reception and send you home with a bunch of donuts. 10/10.
