Inspired by their love for national parks, Liv + Rob planned the most beautiful outdoors-inspired Oklahoma City wedding and proved that no matter where or how you get married, your wedding can be as intentional and personal as you want.

Olivia started her day by getting ready in her grandmother’s home. She told me she wanted to feel the most like herself on her wedding day, so she did her own makeup and laced up her hiking boots. She and Rob had scouted out the perfect location for their first look and private vows, so once she was ready, we hopped in my car and off we went, handwriting her vows on the way and using my Harry Potter notebook as a clipboard.

I will never get over the beauty and connection between couples who exchange personal, private vows. No pressure, no expectations, no eyes watching them. Just two people speaking from the heart and committing their lives to each other. Rob + Liv took their time saying their vows, soaking in the beautiful November day in a gorgeous spot as autumn leaves fell all around them. As a photographer, when I’m photographing such an intimate moment, I always try to keep my distance and use a close-up lens that allows me to give my couples space while still capturing every emotion.

Later that night, their closest friends and family gathered at Plenty Mercantile in OKC for one heck of a reception. Tacos and pie and dancing the night away. Liv + Rob had picked out every detail of their reception to reflect their love of the outdoor adventures, and trusted family and friends made their vision come to life. National park postcards were their table numbers, a personalized soundtrack was their wedding favors (the three of us originally bonded over our love for the Lumineers), and a “happy campers” sign adorned their head table.

What I loved most about Olivia + Rob’s wedding was you could see them in every single detail. They infused who they are into every aspect of their wedding day in such an intentional, unique way. Even though their wedding took place in the middle of a city, you had no doubt these two love their adventures together.

Rob + Liv’s wedding was actually my third time to photograph this amazing couple (their engagement session was a perfect tour of Oklahoma’s most unique state parks). It certainly won’t be the last as they have informed me that I am officially their lifetime photographer (excuse me while I melt into a freakin puddle of happiness). It’s been the most amazing honor to watch their love story unfold and document so much of it. This wedding was so so special to witness and photograph, and I’ll always be thankful for Olivia + Rob inviting me into the beginning of their adventure.
