So I realized recently that I have yet to share Jessica + Colby’s intimate wedding on my blog.
This changes NOW.
Back on May the 4th of this year, my husband and I traveled down to Broken Bow, Oklahoma for Jessica + Colby’s wedding day. They didn’t want anything big or fancy, just a joyful weekend celebration with their family. With less than 30 people attending, simple decor, and and their sweet pup Mati as their only bridal party, it was honestly one of the most meaningful and intentional wedding days I’ve ever been a part of.
Before their ceremony, Jessica + Colby showered each other with heartfelt gifts as they got ready for the day. Their family prepared all the food and helped them get ready. Then we drove out to some secluded woods for their first look. They read their vows to each other, which made all of us cry a lot of tears (but especially Colby, please scroll down to see his precious reactions CAN YOU BELIEVE?!).
Several weeks before their wedding, Colby had emailed me saying that Jessica LOVES swings, so he was making a surprise handmade swing for her and wanted to make sure and get photos of her reaction. So when we returned to the cabin after their first look, Colby revealed his surprise and we all cried some more. SERIOUSLY THESE TWO SLAY ME.
Because of their love for spending weekends at the lake, they said “I do” on a little dock, with the people and pups they love most crowded close around them. Afterwards, we snuck off again to explore the beautiful scenery and take some more portraits. I could hardly believe this gorgeous landscape was Oklahoma, that this was what I was getting to do for “work,” and that I was getting to celebrate with these two amazing people who love each other so passionately.
I love big weddings, but man. Intimate weddings have my heart. I loved seeing the intention with which Jessica + Colby celebrated their love in exactly the way they wanted. No rush, no fuss, no tradition. It was perfection.
