Tucked away in the northwestern corner of Oklahoma is one of the state’s most unique state parks, the Gloss Mountains. With a desert landscape and 360 views, Nicole + Zach knew it was the perfect setting for their sunrise elopement.

With both of them being in the military, guidelines were pretty strict for them during 2020 and covid-19, so they planned a tiny ceremony close by, inviting just their closest family to come and witness their vows.

On a cool foggy morning in August, we met up at the parking lot of the Gloss Mountains, and I took some portraits of them as the sun came up and we all got drenched in the golden light. Their family joined us shortly, and we made the hike up to the top for their ceremony. We watched and cheered as these long-time partners who had been waiting for years to be married, finally made it official.

As disheartening as 2020 has been, it was days like this that made me want to scream from the mountaintops that love will never ever be canceled. Take that, 2020.
